New Shoes and OOTD 7/29/17

Today was in the high sixties so I opted for sleeveless with a sweater, and jeans. White lace still makes this look summery, at least I think so. I paired this with my brand-new metallic rose gold converse high tops. I fell in love with these shoes immediately and I am so glad I bought them. The price tag was a little steep for me so I did spend some time researching other metallic sneakers, but ultimately these were the ones that stole my heart. There are plenty of other styles and metallics if you look for them at a range of price points. Metallic sneakers and shoes are going to be very in for the fall season. I'll link a similar cheaper pair below as well as these.  I'm a huge fan of canvas sneakers and I think that these are neutral enough to be able to be paired with a lot of different outfits as well as flashy enough to make a statement. They're great transition pieces as well and I think I will get a lot of use out of them. They're also converse so you know the

Today was another chilly day. No rain so I opted for Vans. Keeping it simple with a t-shirt, jeans and Vans but still cute. I think a striped t, light wash jeans, and white sneakers are all essentials and can still be really cute. Recently just re-red Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. I like to read intelligently, but my guilty pleasure is definitely YA and Sarah Dessen is by far my favorite YA author. Her books are so relatable and enjoyable. Just Listen follows Annabelle Greene, a high school junior, in her struggles with family, friends, and her inner secrets. She finds so much solace in friendship and music and it meant a lot to me in high school and now. "Don't think or judge. Just listen." Are words I live by and it's so nice to know that you're not alone. Books like these are such a comfort. However, I am also a frugal and broke college student. As Nina Garcia once said, "fashion is expensive. Style is not. Some of the most stylish girls I know are certainly not the wealthiest." So in this sense, I think that, if I do say so myself that I am stylish -- no fashionable. Although I hope to someday be both. So some of the nicer pieces you see here are mostly either hand-me-downs, thrifted, or bought on sale. Of course there will be the occasional splurge item, a girl can only control herself to an extent.  I am a very opinionated person and as such am not afraid to speak my mind. I'm planning this to be a blog mostly dedicated to fashion, but that doesn't exclude topics like politics and science. Sometimes the two go hand in hand. Other things, like my endeavors as a Con
